Notifications are a great feature that can help you stay alert while monitoring your environment. Notifications are sent by email or SMS.
There are two ways to handle notifications.
- From the sidebar, click on Notifications. Here you can see all status notifications (explained below) created in your organization and create new ones.
- From the sidebar, click on Checks and select a check. Go to the Notifications tab.
There are two types of notifications: Network notifications and Status notifications.
This is a default notification to monitor whether a sensor check is still online. You can’t delete that notification. If you don’t want to receive notifications for the network status of the sensor you can disable them by clicking on the SMS/email icons.
Alternatively, you can enable or disable network notifications directly from the checks view.
Here you can create your own notifications based on the status (value) of your sensors. Only owners or editors can create notifications (read more about user roles).
To create a status notification:
- Click on the +CREATE A NEW NOTIFICATION button.
- Set a condition.
- Click CREATE.
For example, if you have a temperature sensor and your ideal environment is between 20°C and 25°C, the condition should look like the picture below.
When the temperature drops below 20°C, or above 25°C, we will send you a notification.
More settings: You also have the option to select when to be notified. Click on the SHOW MORE SETTINGS button and set the MATCH AFTER field. For example, if you don’t want to be notified immediately, but rather wait for 5 minutes before you receive the notification then you can set the field to (5 minutes x 60 sec =) 300 seconds.
Multiple notifications for a single sensor
It is possible to create more than one notifications for a sensor check with different conditions. Like this example:
Finally, you don’t have to receive notifications from all these conditions. Just select which ones you are interested in by enabling/disabling the SMS/email notification icons.
