Network status

To check the network status of all your devices click on the wifi icon on the top right corner:

Installing the 30MHz Gateway and sensors

The basic steps to install the 30MHz Gateway and the sensors, are:

  1. Plug the 30MHz Gateway to power.
  2. Connect the 30MHz Gateway to internet via ethernet. For more information and troubleshooting read: Troubleshooting the 30MHz Gateway
  3. Place the sensors next to the 30MHz Gateway.
  4. Open the dashboard and login. Read more about:

  5. Wait until the sensors come online (mostly within 1 minute).
  6. Put the Gateway at the designated location.
  7. Mount the antenna of the 30MHz Gateway as close to the sensors as possible (of course limited by length of the cable). Mounting the antenna at a height of about 3 meters will give best results.
  8. Place the sensors at the location where you want to measure.
  9. Check if the sensors are still returning data in the dashboard.
  10. If sensors are not returning data (wait for 5 minutes), place a 30MHz repeater in between the 30MHz Gateway and the sensor(s).
  11. Sensors are now online.

Troubleshooting the 30MHz Gateway

The 30MHz Gateway is the device that gets the data from the sensors and sends them to the cloud. The 30MHz Gateway needs to be connected to a power supply (wall socket) and it should also be connected to the internet, via ethernet (cable) connection. This is the advised and most preferred way of internet connection (in some cases, we can support wifi connection or a 3G mobile network. For more information contact us).

A DHCP server is needed to hand out a IP address to the Gateway (we can set a static IP address, but this needs to be pre-configured).

The minimum ports needed for the 30MHz Gateway:

  • 443 TCP – This is the most fundamental requirement – it is used to connect to the VPN and the web terminal, and many web endpoints using TLS (https://.)
  • 123 UDP – For NTP time synchronisation.
  • 53 UDP – For DNS name resolution.

Each of these should work with outward only (and inward once outward connection established) firewall settings.

When the Gateway is not working

If the 30MHz Gateway is not working, you will get a notification at the top, right corner of the dashboard:

In case you see this notification, here is a list of things you can check:

  • Is the 30MHz Gateway plugged to the power socket? Hint: to reset the Gateway, you can unplug and reconnect it to power.
  • Is there internet connection to the ethernet wall socket? (for ethernet connections)
  • Is your router port open? (for ethernet and wifi connections)
  • Check your firewall settings. (for ethernet and wifi connections)
  • Check the WiFi connection details (eg. correct password).

If you use 3G connection, there might be troubles with the SIM card settings. In this case, contact us.
